Word Seeds

I’ve written a manuscript with the working title Living Affirmed: Walking Confidently in Your Divine Purpose! The work posits that words of affirmation are the seeds of your destiny. I believe, absolutely, that what we believe is what we receive. I also believe that what we speak is what will manifest in our lives. Notwithstanding, faith without action is never rewarded.

Earlier today, I read the testimony of a young wife and mother who has consistently spoken her way to success. Her declarations over the past 15 years were coupled with actions that both preceded and succeeded what she spoke. Her testimony so resonated with my spirit that I had to share its prevailing message for tonight’s post!

Writers are always looking for inspiration. My calling is to pay it forward to inspire people to grow, for the execution of their dreams. When our hearts burn reading or hearing someone’s story, it is because we are moved by revelations kindred to our experiences of life. That is what happened to me today—one of those serendipitous moments that spurs me to share my heart.

Many, many years ago, caught in a trap of unrequited love, I had succumbed to a low viewpoint of my life. Although the words, “I love you” had come from his mouth, in his heart he didn’t have the capacity to demonstrate the love that he professed. At last, I looked in the mirror and spoke his name, and then the words “        doesn’t love you.”

I stated matter-of-factly what love does not do—the things that he was doing! I spoke the painful truth to the woman in that mirror, as many times as it took her to accept it. Once accepted, signified by floods of tears, I wrote “An Ode to Love” with every intention to leave him. I left the note on my kitchen table for his perusal, but in my heart my decision was resolute.

That man had abused me verbally, physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially for the last time. As I planned my escape with a loyal neighbor and friend, I made sure to speak what positive things were going to happen for me and my children in our futures—away from the abuse. My word seeds took root and soon began to grow into a harvest for us!

I call myself a Word woman. There is nothing that stirs the fire in my soul like the inspirations that I glean from reading God’s word. What starts as an adrenaline rush quickly gives way to saturating light, illuminating my mind to receive godly wisdom. It is the best kind. It is the wisdom that determines our trajectories in living affirmed.

There is nothing more affirming than the counsel of Holy Spirit through the words of our Creator.

As this new year begins, I am preparing for another major transition in my life. I find myself making “impossible” declarations and following through. I have a friend who often says, “Act like you’ve been there before.” I have powered through many transitions in my lifetime. I can attest that each time it was faith, both proclaimed and executed, that was the hallmark of my success. I acted both before and after I planted word seeds. I fertilized, and pruned, and watered those seeds, anticipating a sure harvest, and was not disappointed!

My message, akin to that of the eloquent, young woman that I read today, is that once you’ve conceived wisdom you must birth purpose. If you don’t bear down and push through to delivery, then like a woman in prolonged labor you will risk hemorrhaging indefinitely. You will risk the death of your dreams.

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life” (Proverbs 13:12, NLT). Remain hopeful and don’t forfeit your dreams! Live your life affirmed of who and Whose you are. You can do exactly what you believe you should do. LYLA!

Your word seeds, once sown, will reap a harvest of the same kind. Ergo, be careful what you speak. Sow positive affirmations in the soil of your faith and watch your destiny manifest before your eyes! Act your way to success. You can’t lose if you don’t give up. Walk away from abuse. Eschew fruitless thinking. I challenge you to look towards Valentine’s Day, this year, with a mind to love yourself enough to not look back. What lies behind you is dead. What awaits ahead of you is a tree of life!

I really enjoyed reading this. Life and death is in the power of the tongue. Mark 11:23 you will have whatsoever you say. Great articulation. So proud of you, love you much!

    1. Thanks Lady J! I was reminded of your message that you preached some years ago about FAITH. You mentioned that when you speak your faith it goes out before you, then it’s just a matter of time before you walk into its manifestation! A great, unforgettable word!
